The Graffiti Train Car Series is a special series in the Vaughn Cochran portfolio. What started out as a fun little painting project in 2016 became a full-fledged series as time went on. In 2022 I finished the 6th train car to complete the series.  The graffiti subject matter is still in the fishing world so it's not too far off my usual direction. The eventual plan is to paint actual train cars, do a documentary of the painting of the cars and have them travel around the US and be recorded in a social media program. Each car would be sponsored by a company or corporation and have their logos on the car. If a person were to take a selfie in front of a sponsored car, they could take that selfie to the company location and get some company merchandise. If there is enough interest, additional cars could be added.

Vaughn Cochran

Regarded as one of the best and more innovative artists in the world of
fishing art, Vaughn’s current groups of pencil drawings, watercolors, mixed
media, acrylic and oil paintings would be classified as contemporary sporting
art and represents the last 20 years of his work. He was trained as a fine
artist, taught at a university and his portfolio now spans over 40 years.

A multifaceted artist, he is skilled in many mediums including painting in
oil and watercolor, ceramic sculpture, art pottery, printmaking, intaglio,
silkscreen, woodcarving, batik and metal working and casting.

His contemporary sporting art reflects the world of professional fishing
where Vaughn was a fly-fishing guide for many years. “In my travels, I always
had my camera and sketch book”, says Vaughn “I’ve filled several journals with
ideas and notes for paintings and sculptures that revolve around fish and life
on the water.”
